I was featured by Curly Nikki as a Natural Glam Hair Idol. Her blog is dedicated to natural hair. I have been natural for almost 12 years and it surprised me that I have never posted about my hair here.
Since she thought my hair was a good enough topic for one her posts, it must be good enough for one of my own ;)
I have a short bio on my transition and the products I use in the interview. There is also a short section on how I style my natural hair. I love that my hair can go from a big, curly, kinky, coily, afro to a straight sleek style and everything in between with just a wash and some styling.
I wear my hair proudly, it is part of my growing knowledge that what God gave is me is enough. I hope you wear yours (no matter the texture) just as well.
YES! I have been wearing natural hair for 20 years. I recently cut my waist length dred-locs to rock a short nautral..I mean to the head short! And I love it!
ReplyDeleteIt is quite liberating.
I was nautral for 2 years and it was such a liberating experience. I've thus gone back to the chemicals (8 months strong) but may go back to natural one of these days.
ReplyDeleteLovebabz,
ReplyDeleteI remember the pictures of those lovely locks. I've been tempted to lock up myself, not sure I want the commitment.
Monique,
I think every natural is tempted to go back to chemicals every now and again. Then I think about the chemical burns I used to have and that keeps me away from them.
Good post, and the article was tight too.
ReplyDeleteI am actually transitioning as I type... Boy o' boy!
ReplyDeleteBut I like to see the rivets in my texture. I lay in bed at night and feel my kink. I love it.
The article is great and I love the pics.
HEY WHERE'S THE BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!
ReplyDeleteI GOT UP EARLIER TO WISH YOU A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY...IT'S THURSDAY!
I WILL COME BACK LATER AND HOPEFULL THERE WILL BE A PARTY GOING ON!
(ALL CAPS MEAN I AM SCREAMING) LOL!
Randy Bandit,
ReplyDeleteHey!!! Good hearing from you. Glad you liked the article.
MsKnowitall,
The transition phase took a little adjustment for me. I remember always wanting curly hair, I never knew I had it already.
Lovebabz,
Thank you so much, but you are one day early! I am still smiling, though and I really needed to smile today. I am meeting some friends, some fellow performers and sorors/frat tomorrow night for food, fun and spirits. I am not a club person, so I am avoiding those, but it should be fun. Wish you were here to be a part of my "eclectic" group.
Happy Earthday to You!!!
ReplyDeleteMay your year ahead be filled with love, joy, and unending happiness.
Peace and blessing to you.
